It is possible to perform in a natural cycle of menstruation with low stimulation medications for the follicles to ovulate.
in Intrauterine Insemination
Apart from mild pain and spotting on the day of an IUI, there are no major complications.
Around 5% - 10% of the patients may have multiple (generally twin) pregnancies. Sometimes, a patient may respond excessively to medications and produce more eggs, putting her at risk for multiple pregnancies and the condition called Ovarian Hyper Stimulation Syndrome (OHSS). There is less than a 1% chance of pelvic infection with IUI.
